Bio, Theology, and Other Such Things…

A Very Brief Bio

Theology, Percussion/Music, Technology – strange mix but undoubtedly the three overlapping circles of my life.  Infused into all of it is a growing love for my wife, Tina, and holding ALL of it together is the completely undeserved love of Christ.  My first degree – a Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance.  My second degree – a Masters of Theology in Christian Leadership.  My third degree (not a REAL degree) is my 15+ year vocation in computers and technology.

I have worked as an IT guy as a consultant, at a Hospice, at a Seminary, and at an Art/Design College.  I have worked as a singles pastor and a college pastor.  And I have “worked” as a private music instructor.  (Presently I am employed with the ITS department at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte.)

In all of this I strive to keep my identity as “ambassador of Christ” at the absolute forefront.  He is the center of my life, the meaning in every task, remedial or major, and the prevailing passion of my life.  Some days are easier than others but my goal is to live my life in a way that directs others to the wonder and power of the cross of Christ.

For those who are either seriously interested, or seriously needing the insomnia-aid, below are links to documents highlighting my personal “Doctrine Statement” (Statement of Beliefs), Philosophy of Ministry, and my personal spiritual story. These are largely works produced while in seminary, but some have been updated and edited based upon recent ministry involvements. Read on … (or sleep on! : )

Belief Statement – “Short Version”

– This is a condensed version of the “long version”.  This was also used as part of the official belief statement of “VerseONE” – a student organization which I help lead and advise at the Art Institute of Charlotte.

Belief Statement – “Long Version”

– This is my own condensed “Systematic Theology”.  This was part of my thesis project for my seminary degree.  It is very much at the core of who I am and what I believe.

Philosophy of Ministry

– Also a part of my seminary thesis.  This defines my most sincere convictions concerning Christian ministry and the core values I believe are to drive those who are followers of Christ.

What is Worship?

– Written both as a reference point for a group of Christian college musicians I help lead, as well as a response to common misunderstandings concerning “worship” and it’s part in the life of the Christ-follower.

How to Know God

– A brief summary of the Good News Message of Jesus.
